Hai Whakamaharatanga mō ngā hononga o Aohanga
A memorial to, the relationships of Aohanga
Kia ora koutou,
Over the years, we have had the privilege of interviewing many of our Aohanga Incorporation Shareholders. By allowing us to share their memories of growing up, on, what is now known as the Owāhanga Station, and Pāpāuma Marae, we can share snippets of their historical ventures and the aspirations they had in mind, for our future generations.
They allow us to share their childhood memories of attending the Aohanga Native School and in some cases, being born in our Whare Tipuna, Pāpāuma.
Many have worked the whenua, fished in the moana, been part of the shearing gangs, raised families, spent time as a Member of the Committee of Management, the Marae Komiti, local sports clubs. All have been and continue to be, an integral part of the whenua and moana we are so fortunate to be Kaitiaki of.
Acknowledgements
We acknowledge those who have passed on and their Whanau who have allowed us to share their stories. We are truly grateful and humbled by their support and generosity.
As we continue our research we hope to share more of our rich history with our Shareholders, The Proprietors of Owāhanga Station T/A Aohanga Incorporation and our Whanau, Tamariki, Mokopuna.
